About Us
Two years ago we started a non-profit to help preserve the history and culture of the Italian American enclave in Des Moines ,Iowa.
First we gathered signatures for a PETITION to pass an ordinance, allowing district signage within the commercial district (crossroads of E. Jackson Ave & SE 1st St) of Columbus Park/McKinley School neighborhood of Des Moines Iowa as “Little Italy”.
We are now on our second push! Now we are raising funds to bring the signage to life.
Below are our goals for Little Italy DSM:
-Signage will be readily visible and comprehensive to create a better sense of geographical and cultural mapping of the city, providing a means of orientation.
-To better assist travelers in identifying historical landmark.
-To promote a sense of unique identity within the City of Des Moines for the neighborhood and business district.
-To attract and support business owners for a thriving business district that provides shopping and dining for the community and travelers.
Our Tee
We partnered and did a design collaboration with Raygun for our first Italian American T-Shirt! While we had limited stock on this tee and if you were lucky enough to get one, congrats!

It all begun with a dream. We saw our Italian American enclave being torn down and forgotten. While many Italian Americans have moved out of the area, we felt it was important to help preserve what remains and make sure to not the history for the future generations to visit what was once Little Italy DSM
